Privacy Policy — Grow Your Cat

Effective date: 14 August 2026

Grow Your Cat (“the app”) is a single-player focus timer. It is built to be private by design. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle.

The short version

Grow Your Cat does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking of any kind.

Data stored on your device

Everything the app creates — your grown cats, focus sessions, intentions, streaks, statistics, and settings — is stored in a private database that belongs to the app on your device. The only place this data is also copied is your own private cloud account with Apple or Google, as described next.

Backup & sync

The app keeps a copy of your progress in your own personal cloud account so that it survives reinstalling the app or moving to a new device. This uses the backup service built into your operating system. In both cases the data lives entirely within your personal account, the developer has no access to it and cannot see it, and no server belonging to the developer is involved.

On iPhone and iPad (iCloud). If you are signed in to iCloud, the app automatically stores a small copy of your progress in your private iCloud account using Apple’s key-value storage. This happens in the background — for example when you finish a focus session or reopen the app. It also means your collection stays in sync across all your Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID (a cat grown on your iPhone appears on your iPad). The data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can turn this off at any time by disabling iCloud for Grow Your Cat in your device’s iCloud settings.

On Android (Google Auto Backup). The app uses Android’s standard Auto Backup service, so your database and settings are backed up to your own Google Drive account and restored automatically if you reinstall the app or set up a new device. This backup is performed by the Android system, not by the app, and the data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. It does not count against your Drive storage and the developer cannot access it. You can turn it off in your device’s Settings under Google → Backup. Note that Android’s Auto Backup restores on reinstall but does not continuously sync between two devices you use at the same time.

Notifications

The app may ask permission to send you local notifications (for example, when a focus session or break ends). These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through any server. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device’s settings (iOS Settings, or Android Settings → Apps → Notifications); the app works fully without it.

No analytics, no tracking, no third parties

The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers. It does not use an advertising identifier (Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID). The app does not send your information to the developer or to any third party. The only background network activity is your operating system’s own backup service — Apple iCloud or Google Auto Backup — copying your own data to your own account, as described under “Backup & sync” above.

External links

The Settings screen includes an optional “Support” link. If — and only if — you tap it, your device opens a third-party tip page (Ko-fi) in your web browser. The whole app is free; this is just a tip jar and unlocks nothing. No personal data is sent when you open it, and any information you choose to provide on that page is handled under Ko-fi’s own privacy policy, not ours.

Children’s privacy

The app does not collect data from anyone, including children. It is rated suitable for all ages.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
