Frequently asked questions

Where are my cats saved?

Everything — your grown cats, focus sessions, intentions, streaks, and settings — is stored privately on your device. The app also keeps a small automatic backup in your own private cloud account: iCloud on iPhone and iPad, or Google Auto Backup (your Google Drive) on Android.

Will I lose my collection if I reinstall or get a new phone?

No, as long as backup is enabled for the app. On iPhone and iPad your collection is restored automatically from your private iCloud backup when you reinstall Grow Your Cat or set it up on a new device signed in to the same Apple ID. On Android the same happens through Android's Auto Backup, using the Google account on your device.

Do my cats sync between my devices?

On iPhone and iPad, yes. If your devices are signed in to the same Apple ID with iCloud enabled, Grow Your Cat keeps your collection in sync across your Apple devices — a cat grown on your iPhone shows up on your iPad automatically. The data stays in your own private iCloud account; the developer cannot see it.

On Android, not continuously. Android's Auto Backup restores your collection when you reinstall the app or set up a new device, but it does not keep two phones you use at the same time in sync.

How do I turn the backup off?

On iPhone and iPad, open the iOS Settings app, find Grow Your Cat (or the iCloud section), and disable iCloud for the app. On Android, open Settings → Google → Backup. The app keeps working either way — your data simply stays on the device only.

Do I have to allow notifications?

No. Notifications (for example, when a focus session or break ends) are optional and generated entirely on your device. If you decline the permission, the timer still works fully.

How do I use the Pomodoro features?

By default the app is a simple, free-form timer. In Settings you can opt into each Pomodoro principle individually: break cycles (with an optional longer break every few sessions), focus intentions (tag what you're working on), and mandatory breaks (make breaks unskippable and auto-continue the cycle).

Is the app really free? What is the “Support” link?

Yes — Grow Your Cat is completely free, with no ads and no tracking. The “Support Grow Your Cat” row in Settings opens an optional tip page (Ko-fi) in your browser. It is a tip jar only; it unlocks nothing, and you never have to use it.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Grow Your Cat works fully offline. The only background network activity is your device's own backup service — Apple's iCloud or Google's Auto Backup — copying your own data to your own account.

What languages does the app support?

English, Ukrainian, Polish, German, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified). The app follows your device language automatically.
